Celebrating yourself

I had a thought that I wanted to share. Sometimes we forget to celebrate ourselves. When someone else does something great, you are always the first person to say “wow you are amazing!” AND all you want is for that person to feel happy about themselves because of it! Then when you do something great you wait around for someone to say that to you. Why wait?

I feel like a lot of us don‘t feel worthy enough to validate ourselves. We do something that is good but we always think BUT it could’ve been better or I better keep that thought to myself so I don’t come off not humble. I want you to know, it’s okay to celebrate yourself!! If someone says “good job”, don’t degrade it! Smile and say “thank you! I’m happy!” In fact it’s so important because sometimes in life you are all you’re going to have in that moment. This could be for something as small as getting up and actually brushing your teeth in the morning. To as big as graduating high school or grad school. We are constantly given challenges and trials so why not have a party at the end! The lord is proud of you all the time. Nothing you do is too small to him. And he’d be smiling even more if he knew that you viewed yourself in the same way!

Please take time to say to yourself everyday that you’re proud and can’t wait to see what you’ll do next. and strive to have a goal that will lead you to that feeling of accomplishment and growth. I’ll end with a few things I am proud of this week:

- I was awarded Big 12 newcomer swimmer of the week! - I didn’t absolutely bomb my accounting exam

- I actually slept in on Tuesday

- I made a good dinner last night
